Microinfarcts in memory clinic patients: Uncovering etiology, clinical correlates and functional impact of the “invisible lesion”.

Current projects
Doeschka Ferro’s scientific work focusses on cerebral microinfarcts. Microinfarcts are tiny brain infarcts previously known as “the invisible lesion”. Only recently our research group succeeded in detecting microinfarcts on high field strength MRI.
Doeschka collaborates with research groups from the VU medical center in Amsterdam and National University of Singapore to answers key clinical questions about microinfarcts in her PhD thesis Microinfarcts in memory clinic patients: Uncovering the etiology, clinical correlates and functional impact of the “invisible lesion”.
Doeschka is also involved in the Heart-brain connection, a multicenter and multidisciplinary initiative investigating the link between cardiac disease, hemodynamic changes and cognitive dysfunction.
In her spare time Doeschka enjoys (vegetarian) cooking, running and playing the piano.
