Research focus
Zooming in on small vessel disease with 7Tesla MRI.
Current projects
Hilde van den Brink coordinates two clinical studies in our research group: Zoom@SVDs and Zoom@Rotterdam. Zoom@SVDs is part of the SVD@Target project, funded by the European Horizon 2020 scheme (https://www.svds-at-target.eu/) and Zoom@Rotterdam is a project funded by a VICI grant awarded to Professor Biessels. Her research aims to better understand the mechanisms that drive SVD-related brain damage and cognition by studying cerebral blood flow and microvascular malfunction in SVDs with 7Tesla MRI. Her current project focuses on cerebral microinfarcts, a new in vivo MRI marker of SVDs and cognitive decline for which causes are still largely unknown.
